PSC Range Officer Meeting July 10

All current PSC Paid and Volunteer RO’s and any member who is interested in finding out about those programs is invited to a meeting on July 10, 2012. This meeting will be held in the Blue Building and will start at 6:00 PM.

The first part of the meeting will address the programs in general, including some changes and lessons learned through the first year or so of the Paid RO Program. Current RO's are encouraged to talk about their experiences.  The information discussed will be of interest to prospective RO’s.

The last part of the meeting will be for those members who would like to get into either or both programs. After explanation and discussion of guidelines those who want to be in the Paid RO Program will fill out some forms.

Overall the meeting should not last more than 2 hours, perhaps less. If you are interested in attending please send an e-mail to Chief Instructor Marc Gentine, using This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

2012-2013 PSC Membership Badges

The first group of PSC Membership Badges for the 2012 - 2013 membership year are scheduled for mailing on or about June 1st.  If you have not already done so when you renewed, please verify we have your correct mailing address by clicking on the "Renew Membership" button and checking your record.  Badge holders will be available at the Club sign-in desk after the badges are mailed, so be sure to pick up one.  Please, take only one for yourself and one for any Associate Member in your family.

Some folks are sending emails asking the Membership Director to verify that their renewal "went through."  You can easily verify this yourself by clicking on the "Renew Membership" button and logging into your personal PSC Member profile.  Your PSC Member Number, join date, and expiration date are displayed on the top line.  If your renewal date is June 30, 2013 then your renewal was processed.  The updating of the database is done as a batch process about once a week, so don't check the website if you have renewed within the last seven days.

PSC Mailbox - Renewals & Ballots

Although we request that Members renew online to speed up the process, we have a "PSC Mailbox" located in front of the shop (not the blue building) that can be used to drop off your renewal form, check for the renewal fee and your proof of NRA Membership.  Remember, your NRA Membership must cover the entire PSC membership year meaning it cannot expire prior to June 30, 2013.

Summer: The Time When All College Students Should Get Their CHL!

Summer is just around the corner and many college students will be home for a few weeks. A lot of PSC Members who are parents of college students have commented that their kids’ schedules during the school year make it difficult if not impossible to take a 10 hour CHL course.  During the summer break, few want to use a precious Saturday to take the class.

To help the college kids in our PSC family, a special CHL class has been scheduled for college students on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 8:00am until 6:00pm. In addition to scheduling a special weekday class, the class fee for our college “kids” has been reduced from $115 to $75. To encourage parents to attend also (hint hint Mom), any parent attending the class with their son or daughter will also get the discounted class fee of $75.  If you happen to have another college buddy that would like to get their CHL, then bring them along.

Membership Renewal Update

The renewal season is going well. We encountered a few glitches in the new system but seem to have worked through most issues. A great number of members have already paid their 2012/2013 dues and verified their NRA membership through June 30, 2013.

A reminder email is being sent to the remaining members to encourage them to go to the website and renew. If you don’t receive the email, go to the PSC website (psc-range.com) and click on the Renew Membership link at the top of the page then check your personal information to make sure we have your correct email address. Subscribing to the email blasts are not the same as the Membership email so, make sure we have correct information.

Replies to PSC Emails & eNewsletters

Often when someone receives an email or eNewsletter from PSC, they reply simply by clicking on the "Reply" button.  This has caused a major problem because the default setting sent all replies to Pistol Director Charles Cotton, regardless of the subject matter.  He has to determine who should handle the response based upon the subject matter, then forward the email.

The PSC email/eNewsletter system has been changed.  The official "sender" is now " This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. " meaning, as the name implies, no one will see your email if you just click "reply."  If you need to contact someone at PSC, please select the appropriate person from the Contacts tab in the main menu.

There may or may not be exceptions to this default procedure, depending upon the nature of the email or eNewsletter.  You can easily determine exceptions by looking at the "reply to" block to see if it is something other than This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

NRA Verification Must Be Done Online!

We still have some folks trying to verify their NRA membership by emailing copies of their NRA cards or magazine labels.  As of 4:00 pm today (April 15th) this will not work!  All NRA verification must be submitted by using the new PSC Member Update & Renewal System.

The new system allows the PSC Membership Director to review the documents sent and update the information simply by clicking one button. If Members send documents by email, it takes much longer because he has to open the email, view the attached document, then log onto the system, look up the individual Member, then update the NRA expiration date.  When dealing with a Club our size, that's a huge difference in workload.

Correct & Verify Member Information Online ONLY!

We have already received close to 100 questions and email "confirmations" from Members in response to the renewal emails that just went out.  PLEASE DO NOT SEND EMAIL CONFIRMING OR CORRECTING INFORMATION SENT IN THE RENEWAL EMAIL!  This must be done on the new Members Information & Renewal system.

Also, complete instructions on how to use the system are included in the renewal emails.  They are also posted here on the PSC website.
