Womens' Program Information

History of the Women's Program . . .

A few years ago, Marc Gentine, current PSC Chief Instructor and former PSC Membership Director, decided to start a training/shooting program specifically for ladies.  The first event was a day at the range for women titled "Roses With Guns."  He even had a patch created to memorialze the event.  rosesFrom that modest beginning, Marc's vision for a program to promote shooting to women has grown into one of the most successful monthly women-only programs in the State.  The program is now run entirely by women who meet on the first Saturday of each month from 8:45am until approximately noon.  The current instructors for the Women Program are Donna Vandermolen, and Mary Carroll.

Target Audience . . .

The current PSC Women's Program is designed for women of all levels of shooting proficiency.  Each month is different and the instructors always work hard to keep the program interesting and entertaining.  Occasionally, a ladies-only IDPA demonstration match is organized and the women have a chance to try their hand at International Defensive Pistol Association competition.

Schedule, Fees & Equipment . . .

  • First Saturday of each month from 8:45am to noon (For 2009:  1/3, 2/7, 3/7, 4/4, 5/2, 6/6, 7/4, 8/1, 9/5, 10/3, 11/7,  12/5)
  • Fees:  $10 for PSC members; $15 for non-members
  • Equipment:  Bring your own gun, ammo (no reloads), belt, holster, eye and ear protection.  A sturdy belt is mandatory, but we have loaners if needed.  If you do not have some or all of this equipment, PSC will loan you a .22 Ruger pistol, ammo, eye and ear protection.

A soft drink machine, water, clean restrooms and shade on Range 2A are part of our creature comforts to make you feel at home.

Spread the word; we have a great time!
