Ladies-Only Basic Skills Clinic

ladiesOne of the most commonly heard comments either prior to or during a CHL class is “I don’t really feel like I’m ready to shoot . . .”  Sometimes  people saying this don’t feel like they are ready for the shooting portion of the CHL class.  Others have passed their CHL class, but don’t feel they don’t have the basic handgun proficiency skills necessary to be able to use a handgun in a defensive shooting.  Unfortunately, some people feeling this way are right, they really aren’t ready.

In response to several requests, Charles Cotton will be presenting basic skills clinics to help people prepare to take the CHL class, or to help them improve their basic gun-handling proficiency.  These four hour clinics will focus on proper grip, sight alignment/sight picture, proper trigger control, as well as other aspects of safe and proficient handgun operation.  The goal of these clinics is to help the students develop proper and safe gun-handling skills and to give them the confidence to further their skills development through formal or informal training.

The first of these clinics will be a ladies-only format.  If you would like to be on an email list for scheduling information, just send an email to Charles Cotton at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Future basic skills clinics will be offered both on a ladies-only and coed formats.  Several couples have already asked about clinics they could attend and those folks will be accommodated shortly after the first clinic is scheduled.

Each Basic Skills Clinic will be limited to eight people to keep the student to instructor ratio optimal for this type of training.
