PSC Shotgun Range offers four different clay target games for the shooting enthusiast. We offer:

Skeet
Trap
5-Stand Sporting Clays
Country Doubles

We have two (2) Skeet / Trap fields, a separate 5-Stand field, and a country doubles field. The skeet/trap fields are overlayed so trap and skeet shooters must share their shooting time with their counterparts.

You will find the price for a round of clay targets in any game is very affordable.

The shotgun range is opened by key holders who act as range officers and coordinate all shooting during normal operating hours.

At PSC we are safety concious. When on the shotgun range you are required to wear eye and ear protection. PSC does not provide these articles so please purchase them before coming to the shotgun range to shoot. Regular sunglasses are not impact resistant and should not be worn on the range. Any of the local sporting goods stores should offer a variety of impact resistant shooting glasses for a modest cost. Hearing protection can also be purchased at the same time.

When shooting on the range always keep the action of your firearm open and unloaded. For break guns, known as over and unders or side by sides, the action should be broken at all times except when on the station shooting. Pumps and semi-automatic shotguns should have their actions locked back and open and no shells should be kept in the magazine tube.

PSC requires that you not load your shotgun until you have stepped onto the station where you will be shooting your targets. This is usually indicated by a box that is 3 feet by 3 feet. PSC requires that you never load more than two shells at any time and when shooting singles in trap you should only load one shell. You must remove any empty hulls or loaded shells from your shotgun before leaving the station.

Care must be taken to always follow rules for safe firearm use and the muzzle should always be pointed in a safe direction. It is generally accepted that on clay target ranges all guns are assumed empty unless the shooter is shooting on a station. Guns do not have to be placed on safety inbetween stations or rounds but should always remain open.

The basic requirements for shooting on the shotgun range are a shotgun in 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 16 gauge, 28 guage or 410 bore. Shooters should use ammunition that has a shot size between 7 1/2 and 9. Any shot larger than those sizes is not allowed. PSC has a combat shotgun range on Range 2 that can accomodate other shot sizes.

Typically the game of skeet is shot with open chokes like cylinder, skeet, or improved cylinder because the targets are shot inside of 25 yards. Trap is shot with a modified, improved modified, or full choke since the targets are shot at distances between 30 and 70 yards. Sporting clays and country doubles can require choke restrictions of all sorts, but typically open chokes like improved cylinder through modified choke will work for most targets.

To shoot any clay target game at PSC you must first sign up with the key holder. The key holder is usually sitting under the covererd patio at the entrance to the shotgun range. When arriving ask for the key holder and provide your name and badge so that it can be recorded. You should ask to shoot a particular game. The key holder will tell you what is currently available and give you some idea as to when you will be able to shoot. Shooting any clay target game is first come first serve and the key holders will do their best to fill a squad with the allowable limit of shooters to keep the range fully utilized. This insures all shooters get to shoot in a timely manner.

Guests are allowed as long as they are accompanied by active PSC members. They must pay non-member prices. After a guest has used the range twice they should join PSC before shooting their third time.
